Player Info

Hello! RPer from DnD, WoW, etc. I am 30+ years super old and trying to drum up new connections and hurl myself into ongoing plot lines. Allow me to be transparent here about my availability and what I'm willing to explore. I encourage anyone to reach out to me if there's ever a problem, or if there's something I can do to accommodate basic needs.

⸻ AVAILABILITY ⸻
CST time zone, available select days from 1PM-11PM. I'm currently not usually available for long sessions over 1-2 hours (max). I have a full time job, several hobbies, and I'm in a relationship - so I am not a suitable RP partner if you're seeking someone with 3+ hrs every week to devote to an ongoing story. That was me at one point, but not atm.
I am respectful of your time/investment and want to be upfront about what I can take on. I may take a special interest in certain plots and events and this can situationally change, but a long term 3+ hrs every week is not possible rn. Short casual scenes or a side role in a plot are likely best unless otherwise agreed.⸻ RP ETIQUETTE BASICS ⸻
Avoid meta-gaming, power-playing, IC/OOC blurring, and possessive or creepy behavior. I will walk away if I feel someone is not a safe choice. I reserve the right to cultivate my own experience and place value in my own comfort levels.
⸻ BOUNDARIES ⸻
Anyone that supports racism, ableism, classism, misogynistic or fascist ideals can kick rocks. Also players who are homophobic or transphobic (this includes the various F slurs), or players who fetishize torture/abuse/assault. If you think calling someone woke is a sick burn, leave me alone - we're not meant to talk.
I will not take part in predatory RP involving acts of sexual violence, or have mature relationships with minor or minor-appearing characters. If you have underage rp, I ask that you avoid me even if I am not directly involved.Under 21 DNI in roleplay - content running ok with transparency of age upon extended interaction. No rp with characters under 21 yrs old without express consent.

Detailed Info

RP Themes: I enjoy a wide variety including adventure, drama, comedic, mystery, horror, occult, slice-of-life, fluff in moderation, exploration, and more.Dark and graphic themes accepted from known RP partners when used logically in a plot-driven encounter. I have no interest in highly detailed bloody and graphic scenes outside of medical/horror/combat RP threads. I don't use "Dark RP" as a blanket term to seek out line by line RP of abuse or torture. I'm personally seeking more dark fairytale or fantasy/horror style storytelling (think creepy pasta or guillermo del torror).Bleed: Don't take it as a personal attack if my characters come off as rude or disinterested, and always let me know if you're uncomfortable or not feeling it that day so I can dial it back. Don't get personal feelings for the writer, no exceptions.Actions and Combat: Contact based actions where your character does something physical to mine (stabbing, kicking, kissing) are considered an attempt only. I typically use dice rolls to determine the outcome of combat actions, or may override dice rolls if I would prefer to make the call myself and avoid extreme actions or something uncomfortable for me to rp out.Lore Friendly but Reasonably Bendy: I enjoy writing lore and have fairly extensive world development for certain aspects of my RP such as - tribe / clan customs, in game locations in under-developed map areas, classes (often inspired from other FF games), and other world-building flavor material.Attention is paid to the established game lore, and the writing attempts to be believable within that scope. There may be use of tainted auspices, creatures of the void, and other elements that play to dark folklore and faerie tale style storytelling. I do try to keep it from getting eye-roll worthy. Please let me know if anything crosses your boundaries of comfort, as we may be able to avoid that aspect or find some other agreeable solution.Appreciation vs Appropriation: Given conversations in rp circles about the use of indigenous themes in writing and visual character design, I'm posting my opinions below. Not looking for a discussion - this is purely to keep our vibes a good match. It's difficult to articulate in short form, but I believe there is a grey area to this subject, and portraying it as black and white is not always accurate. Cultures often have varied views on what is acceptable to use. One voice/article doesn't speak for all, and shouldn't be used as a means to attack other rpers. Given that, I'm not a big fan of rp policing or restricting creativity (cases of obvious intent to do harm are different). I also think it could easily be a slippery slope and contradictory to the setting, considering how much inspiration FFXIV takes itself from real world cultures (Tural, Yanxia, Thavnair, and more).Side note: very simple tribal designs, common methods of tattooing, and other basic aspects of tribal life can frequently be found in multiple cultures the world over, and in ancient cultures. A lot of these elements have been in use in multiple cultures for ages and I do not feel they can be gate-kept by one specific culture (or a few loud voices in the culture). There's really a lot here I could touch on about misunderstandings in social media and inappropriate saviourism - but I'll leave it there for brevity. The energy placed into this community conversation would be better served to provide real help to indigenous people: write/protest to your government about lands stolen from tribal nations, fight food deserts, help with water shortages, buy art from indigenous creators, take action against wildly racist depictions coming back in cartoons/sports/media. Do something to build up instead of breaking down. Thanks for reading.

"Stories exist independently of their players. If you know that, the knowledge is power.Stories, great flapping ribbons of shaped space-time, have been blowing and uncoiling around the universe since the beginning of time. And they have evolved. The weakest have died and the strongest have survived and they have grown fat on the retelling…stories, twisting and blowing through the darkness. And their very existence overlays a faint but insistent pattern on the chaos that is history. Stories etch grooves deep enough for people to follow in the same way that water follows certain paths down a mountainside. And every time fresh actors tread the path of the story, the groove runs deeper. This is called the theory of narrative causality and it means that a story, once started, takes a shape. It picks up all the vibrations of all the other workings of that story that have ever been."--Terry Pratchett, possibly the best author of all time
